Lineage of Teachers

Kriya Yoga has been passed down for centuries in a direct teacher-disciple lineage (guru-parampara) — from Mahavatar Babaji through Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar and Yogananda to the masters of today — an authentic, unbroken lineage and initiation by an authorized Teacher ensures the accuracy and safety of the practice.

Monks and today's Teachers

Kriya Yoga is suitable for both those who live a secular life and those who have devoted themselves to monastic life. Spirituality is a transformation of the heart – therefore, it is equally accessible to everyone. That is why our lineage includes both monks or swamis and lay people or yogis who live a family life.

Learning in life

Spiritual teaching and the role of the Guru in Kriya Yoga

In life, whatever it may be—worldly or spiritual, secular or sacred—we are constantly learning. Learning is the path of life—from our mother’s lap to our last breath. Every person, event, or experience is a teacher.

Two paths of learning
Worldly learning develops knowledge, skills, and abilities that help us live more comfortable and better lives—science, art, business.

Spiritual learning transforms the heart and mind, helping you to become a kind, compassionate, and conscious person. Its goal is unity with the Divine, immortality, or the experience of self-realization.
The importance of a guru
To learn spiritual discipline, you need a Guru – a teacher or advisor who has been authorized by Masters who have achieved self-realization. A Guru helps you understand and experience Truth. He is the light that guides you through difficulties and supports you on your spiritual path. In fact, the true teacher is God Himself – He manifests Himself through people, events, and all of creation. When the Guru is not physically present, his work is continued by acharyas – authorized teachers who help disciples to practice and develop.
The disciple's relationship with the Guru
A disciple must trust and love his teacher. Trust, humility, and service are the foundation of spiritual growth.

In ancient times, disciples lived together with their Guru, but today the connection is maintained through the Guru's books, teachings, and practices. By loving and sincerely following the Masters, the disciple is able to transform his life.
Practice and inspiration
By regularly practicing Kriya Yoga, the disciple begins to understand the beauty and teachings of the Master's life. They become a source of inspiration and inner peace in everyday life. By reading the Guru Gita and the Master's works, one can feel his greatness and divine presence more and more deeply.
